About the Journal
Journal Identity
Journal of Indonesian Society Empowerment (JISE) (E-ISSN 2987-7288, P-ISSN 2987-8160) is a peer-reviewed open access journal published by Yayasan Lentera Avanya Nagari in collaboration with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Tribhuwana Tunggadewi. JISE serves as an authoritative platform for scholarly discourse, research dissemination, and knowledge exchange in community empowerment, sustainable development, and social transformation in Indonesia and the global community.
Mission and Vision
JISE is dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding of evidence-based strategies, policies, and practices to empower diverse segments of society. The journal promotes interdisciplinary research grounded in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), recognizing that sustainable and equitable development requires coordinated action across multiple domains—education, health, economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, social justice, and inclusive governance.
By publishing rigorous scholarship and innovative practice-based research, JISE contributes to global efforts to achieve SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Scope and Coverage
JISE welcomes original empirical research, conceptual articles, case studies, and practice-based scholarship that explores community empowerment and sustainable development across eight interconnected thematic areas, all aligned with the SDGs:

JISE accepts:

Geographic & Interdisciplinary Scope
While prioritizing the Indonesian context, JISE welcomes submissions from researchers and practitioners working in the Global South addressing similar development challenges. The journal embraces interdisciplinary approaches drawing from social work, development studies, economics, education, public health, environmental science, technology, public policy, gender studies, and related fields. Research may focus on urban, rural, peri-urban, or mixed settings, addressing the complex, interconnected challenges communities face in pursuing sustainable and equitable development.
