PEER REVIEW PROCESS
Peer review in Indonesian Social Science Review (ISSR) uses a double-blind review system, where the identities of authors and reviewers are not known to each other to maintain objectivity and quality of assessment. This peer review process is an integral part of scientific publications to validate and ensure the quality of manuscripts before publication.
Peer Review Process:
The process of assessing the quality of manuscripts is carried out by reviewers who are experts in the field, who provide reviews and comments on the manuscripts received. Key stages in this process include:
- Initial Selection by the Editorial Team:
Manuscripts submitted to the journal will be pre-selected by the editorial team to assess whether the manuscript fits the scope of ISSR research. - Review by Reviewers:
Manuscripts that pass the initial selection will be sent to at least two independent reviewers for in-depth review. The reviewers will provide recommendations regarding the suitability of the manuscript for publication. - Reviewer Recommendation:
Based on the review results, the reviewers will provide recommendations to the journal editor with the following options: - Acceptance without revision.
- Request for revision without review by the reviewers.
- Major revision with reviewer review.
- Rejection.
- Editor's decision:
The journal editor or editorial board will review all comments from reviewers and make a final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of the manuscript. The decision may include: - Acceptance of Submission: The manuscript is accepted for publication.
- Revision Request: Authors are requested to revise the manuscript based on the reviewers' comments, without re-review.
- Resubmit for Review: Manuscripts must be significantly revised and resubmitted for review by reviewers.
- Submission to Other Journals: The manuscript is deemed unsuitable for ISSR and is recommended for submission to another journal.
- Rejection: Manuscript is rejected for publication.
Principles of Peer Review:
The peer-review process is a quality control mechanism in which experts evaluate manuscripts to ensure that the published work is of high quality and meets scientific standards. Reviewers provide recommendations, but the final decision remains with the journal editor or editorial board.
