Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Public Affairs Studies (JoPAS) welcomes original research articles, review articles, and conceptual papers that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Public Affairs, Governance, Public Administration, Public Management, Public Policy, Public Service Innovation, Community Development, and related fields. Manuscripts submitted to JoPAS must be original works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

All manuscripts submitted to JoPAS undergo an initial editorial screening, plagiarism checking, and a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance to the journal's focus and scope.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors must prepare manuscripts using the official JoPAS Article Template. The manuscript should be written in clear academic language, either in English or Bahasa Indonesia, and follow the formatting requirements specified in the template.

The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript. Author names, institutional affiliations, and corresponding author contact information must be provided at the beginning of the manuscript.

Abstract and Keywords

Each manuscript must contain:

  • An abstract in English;
  • An abstract in Bahasa Indonesia;
  • Three to five keywords.

The abstract should consist of 150–250 words in a single paragraph and briefly explain:

  • Research background or purpose;
  • Research method;
  • Main findings;
  • Conclusion and contribution of the study.

The abstract should be written clearly and independently without citations.

Structure of the Manuscript

The manuscript should generally consist of the following sections:

Introduction

The introduction should explain the background of the study, research problems, research objectives, theoretical perspectives, previous studies, and research gaps that justify the importance of the study.

Method

This section should describe the research design, data collection techniques, data sources, participants or informants (if applicable), and data analysis procedures. The methodology should be described sufficiently to enable replication and evaluation of the research process.

Results and Discussion

This section presents research findings and discusses their implications in relation to theories, previous studies, and research objectives. Authors are encouraged to provide analytical and critical discussions rather than merely descriptive findings.

Tables, figures, and illustrations may be included to support the presentation of findings. All tables and figures must be clearly numbered and accompanied by appropriate titles and sources.

Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the main findings of the study, answer the research questions, highlight theoretical and practical contributions, and provide recommendations for future research.

References

JoPAS adopts the APA Style (7th Edition) referencing system. Authors are required to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or similar applications to ensure citation consistency.

The reference list should:

  • Contain only sources cited in the manuscript;
  • Include a minimum of 20 references;
  • Consist of at least 80% scholarly journal articles;
  • Prioritize recent and relevant references published within the last ten years.
