AUTHOR'S GUIDE
Introduction
The Journal of Communication Research (JCR) serves as a platform for publishing and disseminating research and critical ideas in the field of communication. The journal aims to enhance theoretical understanding, influence policy, and inform practice. It invites submissions from a diverse range of scholars, including lecturers, students, researchers, practitioners, and professionals, reflecting community service outcomes that apply science, technology, and art to address societal issues.
How to Write the Title, Author’s Name, and Affiliation
- The manuscript title should be centered at the top of the first page. It must be brief yet descriptive, reflecting the essence of the article.
- The author’s name should be centered beneath the title and written without academic titles. If there are multiple authors, list them in order of responsibility, starting with the corresponding author. Names should be written fully and without abbreviations.
- The affiliation (institution or organization) of each author should be listed under the author’s name, also centered.
- Provide two line spaces between the title and the author’s name. The affiliation should be one space beneath the author’s name.
- After the abstract, list three to five keywords, separated by semicolons, arranged alphabetically.
Manuscript General Guidelines
- The manuscript must present original research that has not been published elsewhere.
- Manuscripts containing plagiarized content will be rejected immediately by the editorial board.
- The submission and publication process is free of charge.
- Submit the manuscript via the Open Journal System (OJS) on the Journal of Communication Research (JCR) E-journal portal.
- Manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word format, using the journal’s article template.
- Manuscripts should follow a scientific article structure, including:
- Title
- Author’s name
- Author’s affiliation
- Abstract and keywords
- Introduction
- Theoritical Framework
- Research Methodology
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusion
- References
- Manuscripts can be written in either Bahasa Indonesia or English.
- Manuscripts should be between 15 and 25 pages, including tables and figures.
Text Formatting
- Use Times New Roman, 12pt, with 1.15 line spacing.
- The text should be formatted into two columns (except for the title, author’s name, and abstract) with a 10 mm gap between them.
- Use A4 paper size (210x297 mm) with the following custom margins: Left 25 mm, Right 20 mm, Bottom 20 mm, and Top 30 mm (normal format in Ms Word).
- Each paragraph should start 10mm from the left margin, with no spaces between paragraphs.
- Place figures and tables in the text following the reference. Each should have a caption and be numbered in Arabic numerals. Figures and tables should be centered on the page.
- Figure captions should be placed below the figure.
- Table captions should be placed above the table.
Guidelines for Manuscript Body
- The title should be concise, informative, and clearly reflect the research topic. Avoid ambiguous or abbreviated titles.
- The abstract should be concise (maximum 250 words), summarizing the main points of the manuscript. Include 3-5 keywords, listed alphabetically.
- Provide background information, literature review, and the research question. The introduction should clearly state the research purpose.
- Describe the methodology, including analytical techniques used to solve the research problem.
- Present research findings, supported by sufficient data, and discuss how the findings answer the research questions or hypotheses.
- Summarize the main findings and offer suggestions or recommendations for future research.
- References
- Cite references using the APA 6th Edition style. Ensure that at least 80% of references are from primary sources (scientific journals), with a focus on recent publications (within the last 10 years).
- Reference Management: Use a reference management tool such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero to organize citations.
Online Submission Process
- Manuscripts should be submitted via the Open Journal System (OJS) at the Journal of Communication Research (JCR) E-journal portal.
- Register as an author on the portal.
- The submission process includes five stages:
- Select Journal Section (Full Article).
- Upload your manuscript file in MS Word format.
- Provide author details, article title, abstract, and keywords.
- Upload any additional files, such as the statement letter.
- Review your submission and click “Finish Submission.”
