Abstract

This research examines the representation of patriarchal culture patriarchy in the movie Sehidup Semati and the audience's response to the theme through Twitter reviews. Patriarchal culture, which prioritizes dominance of men over women, is often reproduced in popular media, including movies, especially in Indonesia, which has traditional norms. popular media, including movies, especially in Indonesia which has strong traditional and religious norms. A qualitative approach was used in this study by analyzing the tweets using thematic coding and discourse analysis methods to identify key themes such as gender stereotypes, power relations and critiques of patriarchy, The results show that the movie Sehidup Semati represents patriarchy through the portrayal of subordinate women, especially in unequal household relations. The female character, Renata, is portrayed as surviving in a violent relationship, reflecting the pressure of patriarchal social norms. However, symbolic elements such as the voice and shadow of the in her husband's workspace become an implicit critique of gender inequality. gender injustice. Audience reviews expressed mixed views, both criticism of gender bias and appreciation for the movie's courage to raise sensitive issues. This research concludes that popular media can play a dual role as a reproduction of patriarchal norms and a tool for social change.
