Abstract

The movie "Guru-Guru Gokil" is a comedy-drama genre film that constructs the current social reality of the teaching profession in society. It represents the community's paradigm of the degree and level of income of a teacher, thus covering the function and role of teachers in improving intellectual quality in education. Through this film, the researchers aim to discover the moral messages in the "Guru-Guru Gokil" movie scene. This study uses qualitative research methods with Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic theory. It involves the triangle of meaning analysis method, namely, representamen (signs or those that represent objects), object (something that is meant), and interpretant (meaning of a sign). Based on the results of this study, the findings are in the form of the following moral messages; the first is a religious message in the form of awareness to remind each other to carry out the fasting of Ramadan for Muslims. The second is honesty, in the form of good manners to maintain the trust of others in everything and avoid fraudulent actions for any reason. The third is discipline, maintaining ethical behavior in appreciating the time of neatness to create mutual comfort. The fourth is hard work, a personality that has a firm attitude by sacrificing all thought, energy, and time to achieve its goals. The fifth is independent, being able to survive and face all challenges by relying on individual abilities without involving other people who help. The sixth is the responsibility, being aware of the task and ready to accept the risks taken, and completing the obligations given.
